Alliance Medical are recruiting for an Ad hoc Medical Administrator to join our teams in our centres in Portlaoise & Tullamore (required to work in both centres). The role will involve booking & checking in patients for their Radiology scans. This is a great opportunity to be part of a high-performing, compassionate team providing vital diagnostic imaging services for patients.

 

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment, has excellent communication skills, and is passionate about delivering outstanding care in a healthcare setting.

 


Key Details of the Role:

  • Variable hours between Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 6:30pm
  • Ad hoc / Mutual Obligation Contract (no set hours on contract)
  • Required to work across both Tullamore & Portlaoise centres
  • Approx. 120 days per year to cover annual leave and sick leave
  • No weekends and no late evenings

 


Shift Patterns (ad hoc):

This role operates on an ad hoc basis. When rostered, shifts may include:

7:30-15:30 / 10:30-18:30 (Tullamore)

8:00-18:00 (Portlaoise)

 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and confirm radiology appointments with sensitivity and precision
  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients and families, ensuring a warm and professional welcome
  • Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and manage appointment-related queries
  • Accurately update patient records and internal booking systems
  • Work closely with radiology and clinical staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
  • Provide consistent, compassionate support to patients and their families throughout their visit
  • Assist Radiographers and act as a chaperone if required for the patients and clinicians benefit.
  • Provide reassurance to patients by way of clear explanation as to the nature of an examination.

 


Key Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in medical administration or a healthcare setting
  • A calm, caring nature
  • High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
  • Flexible and adaptable team player
  • A background in customer service is a plus
